God bless!

Do you know how much He loves us? He gave us all our inheritance since the day we were born and even though many of us have casted our pearls before the swine He remains in wait for us to get right. Isn’t it awesome to get a glimpse of His non-human love? Non-human? Yes, human love is conditional, His love is completely unconditional! To go a step further just like the prodigal son when we return to Him, He throws a party upon our return! Want to go to an awesome party this weekend? Come celebrate the salvation of a loved one, a neighbor or anyone for that matter at your local church! Celebrate a true Birthday in church!

When we think of being saved from something, normally the first thought is a masked super hero flying in at a high speed to do it. It’s what has been embedded into our minds from movies and society in general. With that said the verse today turns the tables on us and tells us that Salvation doesn’t come from a super hero but rather our ability to believe or have faith. To have faith in what? In the word that is released from the mouth of our Savior. He says “simply believe” He will hold us. Simply believe that He will not deny us. Simply believe that no matter how dirty we get or how far we walk away from Him, He is willing and able to reach out and save us.  This woman from the verse today was considered to be “an especially wicked sinner” yet in the presence of her Savior she didn’t hold back from honoring Him because of her condition but did it even more, why? She knew that He had the power to undo what she had done and make right all her paths. She didn’t care what anyone thought or said (I’m sure they said plenty about her up to that point anyway!) she broke her most valuable possession and honored Him with it. What is our most valuable possession? Money? Car? House? Nope. It’s our pride! Let’s break our pride and trust that He will sustain us! This will allow us to enter into our peace.

“You are no good for church, you are too full of sin. You are a Hypocrite!” Have you ever heard this? I have and my answer today is the same it was the first time I heard it, He came to save me because I was no good why would I leave the One that has sworn to help me change? He took me out of places that no man can take me out of, why would I turn my back on Him? Why would I run from the Being that is everywhere? Why would I discard a sacrifice as large as the one He made? There is no legitimate reason to run from Him or ignore Him. I choose to serve Him. What do you choose today?

Why cry over spilled milk? You made a mistake, so did I! Now we have awaken to a new day, a new opportunity and a new beginning. Will everyone accept it as such right away? No. So What!!! Everyone can’t save you, only God can. His Word promises us that if we repent, He will forgive and restore us, so let’s believe Him today and let's embrace the verse below. If you are in Christ then you have been made new and no one can say any different!

Pastor Joell A. Perez

2 Corinthians 5:17 “ Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!”

I think the title says it all. Many people will test us because we are Christians, even Christians! With that said we have to learn how to be the bigger person. The natural sees the “Bigger” person as the bully or the person that seems to have control or the “Last word”, but are they really? What gain is there in being the aggressor and what fruit do you gain by beating on those around you?  Most times the people who come off aggressive are simply trying to mask hurt, low self-esteem and a serious inferiority complex. Do we still want to be the aggressor? Remember growing up as kids, there was a bully in every class and for the most part the reason for this was they were the punching bags for their parents and siblings at home. Doesn’t this change your perspective about the person who is trying to be aggressive towards you? Don’t you feel bad for them that they feel they have to compensate for their own hurt by causing others to hurt? Look at their pain and instead of reacting in their fashion lead them to their wrong. How? Speak the Truth. Lay out the facts and most importantly know the difference between the right moment and the wrong one. Approach with an aggressor is everything, aggression from your part to an aggressor will only cause an outbreak of anger. The correct method is to approach them with a clear understanding of their pain and speaking your heart in love. How do you speak in love when you are angry at being offended? You have to maintain your cool! You have to allow your light to come out in the situation and allow them to corner themselves in their aggression to the point where they either stop and listen or run because of your peace. Aggressors will run from peaceful people because they notice they simply can’t phase them. You must note that the initial reaction to your peaceful tone will be a greater level of aggression as it isn’t viewed as you trying to be peaceful but rather condescending or patronizing. You must maintain your cool! Consistency will reign when all is said and done and it will develop either the natural “abusive” relationship or the super natural “loving, respectful, embracing” relationship. Which will we choose today?

Have you ever heard the expression “A day late and a dollar short”? I’m sure you have and normally it’s said by someone mocking you for not doing something on time to be able to attain some sort of prize or recognition. That’s the way the world operates but isn’t it awesome to know that God doesn’t think that way? Isn’t it awesome to know that He is patience! I said it right, not that He has patience but that He is patience! He is Love, He is patience, He is forgiveness! Our God encloses all the best qualities ever exposed to mankind and then some. Today I want to leave you with something short and sweet: it’s not too late for you to turn things around. It’s not too late for you to be a good husband or wife, son or daughter, employee or employer, or a good born again believer. Many will try to tell you it is (including ourselves) but today I leave you with the knowledge that He doesn’t and that is all the matters!

Thanking God for New Beginnings!

So here we are again. A day after the most religious holiday of the year. Many of us received our religious "Fix" but is that all it is to us? Have we been able to embrace the truth of His name? He is Jesus, the wonderful Counselor, The Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace, The Way, The Truth & the life! He is the bread of life, The Lord of ALL! Why do I mention this today? He deserves more than a day from us! I encourage you as I do myself today to keep the flow of His Spirit moving and working in our lives. Let’s not disconnect simply because the holiday has passed. Let’s use the holiday as a spring board to greatness. I dare you!

Do you think diamonds realize their value? Do you think a car can tell how much it cost? Of course common sense tells us these objects have no way of telling their value as they have no mind, soul or body. Knowing this why do so many of us not understand our value? I guess it has to do with the fact that we truly don’t know how to value the things we have or what things have been given up for us. Let me expand: Jesus Christ was given up (His life) for you and me. This was not a figurative sacrifice it was an actual sacrifice. He could have done something else but He decided to see His mission through. He gave it all, what value does that have in our eyes? I would hope all of us would say it has an enormous value as a sacrifice of a human life on its own is huge but the life of the Messiah makes it an indescribable sacrifice. Now why am I talking about value so much today? To understand what it means to be chosen or a special possession we have to be able to qualify and or compare it against something else. That something else is the actual life of Christ. He gave up His own life so that we could live, He gave up His own joy so that we can smile, He gave up His own dreams so we can dream! Never saw it this way? I understand, many of us have disconnected with His sacrifice because of our natural inability to understand the supernatural. I get it. Though this is understandable in the natural we have to begin to see in the super natural, it may not make sense to us as humans but it makes perfect sense to us as His children. Today I went into all of this because we have devalued ourselves for way too long and we are settling for second best all across our life. He wants better for us. We are His chosen people, a royal priesthood, His special possession! Take a minute and let that simmer in your mind and after you do reboot your mind and walk in the Truth which is you deserve better! Stop giving up and giving into less than what you deserve. Change the darkness around you today with your Light!

Pastor Joell A. Perez

1 Peter 2: 9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

The verse today is very interesting but speaks volumes of humanity. Reading this verse alone would lead you to think the disciples were facing an enormous impossibility but if you read the entire text you will realize He was talking to them about forgiveness. They cried out for faith because their desire to be unforgiving was so large they felt they couldn't do it on their own. I can’t say I blame them but you really do realize as humans in our natural state we desire contention. Why? Egos, pride and ultimately stupidity. Why stupidity? The devils plan is and has always been to divide.  The more wedges he inserts in our life the less options we will have to turn to. Now in the natural that can lead us to loneliness, depression, etc. But as supernatural beings even this can serve for good. How? If it drives us closer to God. As our faith increases in His supernatural power we will begin to use all these devises from the devil to our advantage and go the next step to also eliminate the wedges. We have been called to be peace makers and to forgive. It’s time to act the role He designed for us and to keep the right balance at the same time. What I mean by that is you are the Head and not the tail so we can’t mistake forgiveness as a reason to be abused either! Need help forgiving? Ask for faith! He will provide it in abundance.

I’m sure many think I meant “start fast” as a title today but I meant what I wrote “Start the fast!” What Fast? The fast that leads us to knowing and understanding Him more. What more is there in life? Haven’t we figured out that life is all about Him already? It’s not the car, the house, the money, all these things are sure to pass! He is the center of happiness, the meaning of true Joy! He is the reason we live and the reason we breath. As we start this day on what many believe to be one of the Holiest weeks of them all I encourage you to put aside religion and put relationship as your priority. Start a fast with me this week and lets conclude it on Friday with an awesome worship service. Try Him if you dare, challenge Him if you doubt but all in all Talk to Him and you will see that He will answer you in a way you never thought possible. What do you have to lose? If I’m wrong then you lose nothing but if I’m right you gain the peace and joy you have been seeking.

Are you up for it?

Do you remember growing up how our parents would always try to get the truth out of us right before we were punished? I guess the thought process behind it was trying to make a right out of a bunch of wrongs, it’s not a bad concept at all. The verse today talks about how we have to confess our sins, not hide our sins but rather confess them. Why do you think so many of us try so hard to hide our sins? We all know we have them! It’s usually not a surprise when they are discovered , so why hide them? The natural leads us to try to hide these things just as Adam & Eve hid when they realized they were nude. It wasn’t until the natural kicked in that they even recognized nudity. With this said I think it’s important that we put things into perspective and ask ourselves: are we natural beings or supernatural beings? If we are super natural then we will be open about the areas that are still in flaw but if we are natural we will remain in denial and trying to hide all of our mistakes. What are we really afraid of when we hide these issues? Do we still envision ourselves like those mischievous children growing up? Do we assume God will pull out the belt and whip us like our parents did? The longer we carry that mindset the less of the supernatural we will experience. It’s time to embrace Grace and realize He is not our natural parent and we are no longer natural children! You are Supernatural, blessed, made in His image, men & women of God . Don’t let anyone else tell you different, including yourself! I encourage you today to open yourself up and connect with brethren that will pray for you so that you can truly connect with who you were destined to be. You will be surprised at what that prayer can do!

Pastor Joell A. Perez

James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Isn’t wonderful to wake up every morning and be motivated? Though there is a great feeling when we are motivated, in life there is a crucial balance that we all must uphold. The balance that I’m speaking of is the measure between motivation and complacency. Most people want to be motivated because they feel like they can do more when they are affirmed, but many of these people use motivation as an excuse to not progress in the things they are doing because they assume affirmation means completion. What do I mean? They feel like because they are being motivated there current state is ok, therefore their needs to be no further change in their life. Much of the church today is found stagnant because of this mindset. We have evolved into a society that has found complacency in our flesh being massaged by soothsayers and we won’t have it any other way (sorry but I have to keep it real). We jump from church to church looking to hear what we want to hear and run from any church that discusses change in our lives. We run from any church that tells us that we have to work for the change or we attribute the words of change to all those around us and not ourselves.  I’m sure most of us don’t want to hear this and trust me I don’t want to write it, but I’m accountable for change in the lives of all those who read this and just as I want all of us to be prosperous, I’m more concerned with all of us getting into heaven. The bottom line today is we have to read the verse and acknowledge right and wrong. Sin is sin and no matter how much we cheerlead for each other it doesn’t change the fact that it is sin. We know what’s right and taking Grace for granted or taking advantage of it is wrong. It’s time we work for our blessings and enter into a higher level of blessings and prosperity that will last, rather than a level of affirmation that comes and goes like a leaf in the wind….

Let’s do what’s right!

Pastor Joell A. Perez

James 4:17 If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn't do it, it is sin for them.

Do you enjoy freedom? I know it’s a silly question but if we look from the perspective of our actions and the results we have, at times we leave a doubt as to whether freedom is important or not. The verse today shows us clearly the distinction between poverty and prosperity. You work (Righteous) and you are blessed but if you're lazy (Sluggard) you lose your freedom and get caught up on lesser things. Today is the start of a new day and we have a chance to start fresh, what will we choose? I can’t speak for you but I need to be prosperous!

Getting to work...

Pastor Joell A. Perez

,The way of the sluggard is overgrown with thorns [it pricks, lacerates, and entangles him], but the way of the righteous is plain and raised like a highway. (Proverbs 15:19 AMP)

There can only be one good fight and that is one that you know you are going to win. Unless you enjoy losing? I didn't think so! With that being said if we read the verse below we can see that the fight of faith is the only good fight. What kind of fight is "faith" based? It's the one fought inside of our minds and hearts. Our biggest enemy is not the devil like many think but it's actually ourselves. Why do I say that? All the devil does is put out the scenario, but we actually make the choices. We try so hard to be "righteous" but we ignore the fact that many times we are not right. The good fight of faith leads us to believe even when something seems impossible, to act even when we have no Safety net, to speak positively even when everything seems upside down. Though it's difficult it carries a huge prize and that is eternal life! Let's be encouraged today to fight the negative and embrace the God provided promises.

Let's get ready to rumble!

Pastor Joell A. Perez

1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of the faith; lay hold of the eternal life to which you were summoned and [for which] you confessed the good confession [of faith] before many witnesses.

The God you serve is faithful! He doesn't forget His promise to you, He doesn't have anything on His agenda more important than you. You are His priority! I know it may sound a bit out of this world to think God has us in mind that much but I'll ask you this: would you give up your child for something not important? Would you give up your son then ignore the person you gave him up for? I leave you today with this: don't doubt His will for you and don't doubt His love for you, bottom line just Don't doubt Him. He loves us!

Have you ever noticed how the music in the background of a movie scene penetrates your core and makes you feel a certain emotion?  Whether it be an upbeat sound or a suspense filled tone at the end of the scene, it accomplishes igniting a feeling in your heart and soul. Why am I talking about this (like the Jaws theme?) Too many of us allow the background noise in our lives to infiltrate our goals and destinations. We have to take hold of this noise and change the theme! Many of us have had a gloom sound for way too long and it’s time for us to snap out of it! Start playing a different tune, start humming a psalm, start shouting for joy but whatever you do, drop the suspense and gloom music because it simply isn’t getting you anywhere. Maybe you haven’t dealt with gloom but rather there has been a lullaby playing in your head that is simply putting you into slumber, if that’s the case then WAKE UP!!! God is looking to enlist some troops in His holy warfare and these troops need to be focused and on task. Are you up for it? I think you are and He knows you are so let’s get this little light of ours lit and let's let it shine!

Let it Shine!

Do you ever wonder why certain people don’t like you? It's your faith! Many of us as Christians struggle because we find ourselves consistently being ousted by loved ones, friends, etc. At times I’m sure you get frustrated just like I do but when we do we have to go back to the foundation of our belief. The foundation tells us people won’t always like us, people won’t always agree with us and at times people will want to hurt us. Why? Your faith separates you from the common and makes you extraordinary. You are no longer who you were nor are you the same way you were. You have a swag to you that many desire but can’t attain until they include God into their life equation. I’ll put it to you like this: Would you feel bad about being rich because other people hated on what you have? Would you throw your money away to make them feel better about themselves? For that same reason we can’t throw our salvation away just to fit in! You are blessed! Blessings don’t come without peoples envy (sorry to break the bad news) but I’ll leave you with two words: “Who cares”! It’s time for us to stop lowering ourselves to other peoples level just to be accepted and to begin to recognize the greatness that is within us. If changing our faith was right wouldn’t Jesus have done it to get along with those that beat on Him or even His family for that matter? Your faith passes a sentence on others but not because you are doing something wrong but because their conscience is affected by you doing something right. It’s time to deal with the fact that you are blessed! Can you handle it?

Pastor Joell A. Perez

Hebrews 11:7 “By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.”

Have you ever got a flat tire and as you sat in your car waiting for help wish you could just snap your finger and help would be there at that very moment? Wouldn’t it be awesome to have the capability to just speak something out and it happen? Well do I have great news for us today! We do have that capability! We can simply speak and He will hear us and respond. The verse below shows how when we cry out to Him, He will answer us immediately. Not only will He answer us but He breathes hope into us! Do you feel hopeless today? Do you feel at your wits end? Then this word was just for you! Cry out to Him in prayer today and watch His glory unfold before you. What do you have to lose?

Pastor Joell A. Perez

Isaiah 30:19 People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you.
