Do you remember growing up and wishing no one told you what to do? Wanting to go to sleep at the time you wanted, eating what ever you wanted and coming and going as you pleased? For most of us these desires were exactly that, a desire, and never a reality and that is because our parent/s loved us enough to instruct us as to what was best for us. You may say how is it love to deprive us from something we “wanted” to do? It’s actually pretty simple, if as children we do and get anything we want we will find ourselves having issues continuously in life. Don’t get me wrong, when I was a kid I thought I knew it all as well but, today I realize I still have a lot to learn, do you? As parents (for those who are) we realize today how important these lessons from our parents were, how they saved us from headaches, sicknesses and dangers all the time. We have learned to appreciate our parents but it took us being in their shoes to understand. Why am I talking about all of this? The verse today talks about that treatment from a parent to a child and how if there is no correction or control established over a child then we are not treating them as children but rather as illegitimate offspring. In other words giving in to our kids every desire is not the right approach for the best outcome, can you imagine if God did this for us? I’m pretty sure that would be a disaster! Moral today is: you get what you get and you don’t get upset…it's time to grow up!

¿Te acuerdas cuando eras más joven y muchas veces deseaste que nadie te digiera lo que tenias que hacer? Querías acostarte a la hora que tú veías conveniente, querías comer lo que a ti te gustaba, e ir y venir de casa cuando quisieras. Para la mayoría de nosotros estas cosas se quedaron solo en deseos porque no era nuestra realidad. Nuestros padres nos amaban tanto, que tenían que instruirnos con las cosas que eran mejor para nosotros. Puede ser que aún te preguntes, ¿qué clase de amor nos prohíbe lo que más nos gusta? En realidad es simple de explicar, si como niños recibimos todo lo que queremos sin ninguna clase de límites o reglas, tarde o temprano tendremos problemas (y serios). Cuando yo era un niño pensaba que me las sabía todas, pero ahora como adulto, reconozco que aún tengo mucho que aprender. ¿Será que tu también? Como padres (para los que ya somos), hoy en día podemos apreciar todas las lecciones que nos enseñaron nuestros padres, muchas de estas nos salvaron de varios dolores de cabeza y del peligro cantidad de veces. Hoy en día apreciamos a nuestros padres pero tuvimos que hacernos padres para poderlos entender. ¿Por qué les hablo de esto hoy? El versiculo de hoy nos habla del trato de padre a hijo y este nos explica que si no hay algún tipo de corrección y guía, entonces somos considerados “hijos ilegítimos”. En otras palabras el darle todo a nuestros hijos no es la mejor manera de enseñarles. ¿Se pueden imaginar que pasaría si Dios nos diera todo lo que queremos? ¡Estoy convencido que seria un desastre! La moreleja de hoy es: ¡acepta lo que recibes y deja de quejarte…madura!
